  Most insurance policies covering religious institutions are nothing more than standard business insurance policies dressed up with additions and options. The policy form that we provide is a uniquely designed special form in that it automatically includes several items that a Temple needs (and should have).

The following are automatically included:

• Directors and officers liability

• Pastoral counseling

• Stained glass, pews, signs and fences

• Broad water damage coverage, seepage and backup of sewers and drains

• Newly acquired buildings and personal property, including buildings in the course of construction, covered up to $1,000,000

• Umbrella excess liability (including directors & officers and pastoral professional liability)

• Building ordinance coverage - $500,000

• Fire Department service charge - $5,000

• Trees, shrubs and plants - $10,000

• Pollutant clean up and removal - $25,000

• Computer Equipment - $20,000

• Appurtenant structures covered up to $10,000

• Personal effects of clergy included up to $15,000

• Personal property of others, while in your control, protected up to $15,000

• Valuable papers and records are included in the amount of $25,000

• Business income and extra expense to continue operations - actual loss sustained for twelve months

• Personal property in transit and/or off premises is included for $15,000

• Consequential loss to personal property caused by changes in temperature or humidity

• Personal effects of officers, employees or volunteers covered up to $5,000 subject to a $1,000 per person limit

• Personal injury, advertising and contractual liability

• Premises medical payments - $5,000 (includes sports activities)

• Coverage of employees, both paid and volunteer, as additional insureds

• Teachers liability, including corporal punishment

• Day care liability

• Nursery school liability

• Child and sexual molestation

Types of Coverages

Property coverages

Blanket building and contents. All-risk including back-up of sewers or drains and surface water. Replacement cost coverage, agreed amount valuation.

Fine arts, specifically listed. All-risk, subject to a $250 deductible. EDP - As required.

Commercial general liability coverages

$1,000,000/2,000,000 bodily injury and property damage liability. Includes coverage for pastoral counseling, directors and officers liability, teachers liability, nursery school program, broad form property damage, host liquor liability, incidental medical malpractice, personal injury, advertising liability, contractual liability and non-owned and hired auto liability.

Crime coverages

Employee dishonesty - $50,000 per employee (includes volunteers). Money and securities covered up to $5,000 on and $5,000 off the premises; depositors forgery - $5,000. Higher limits available.

Umbrella excess liability

Includes excess directors and officers liability and pastoral counseling. Up to $25,000,000 is available.

This may be paid on either an annual, semi-annual, quarterly or monthly basis with no finance or service charge.

Additional Benefits

There are several other additional benefits our program will provide you with. A loss control specialist will visit your Temple and conduct a survey designed to uncover conditions that might contribute to losses. You will receive bulletins and reports issued periodically, highlighting major causes of Temple losses so that you can compare other experiences with your own situation.
